Why is the government lying to us about Medical Marijuana?
Don't know, but I've called my state and federal representatives asking this same question, and gotten "I don't know(s)" across the board.
I've also called the DEA (I managed to piss off an officer there), and the FDA with no luck their either. I even called the local sheriff's office and country district attorney, and still, no answers.
it seems to me that what we have here is a situation wherein government employees are operating "the status quo" without any real insight into why the status quo exists in the first place.
well, I'm going to keep confronting my government with this question.
sooner or later, i'm going to get some answers.

As a fellow American I have asked the exact same question of my state Sen Tom Harkin (D-IA) and he emailed me an anti drug form letter that lumps marijuana right in the same catagory as heroin, cocaine and meth. Sen Tom Harkin (D-IA) says, "If you smoke marijuana you will find yourself huddled in a corner willing to sell your children for just one more hit of marijuana." He truely believes this, it has been medically proven that marijuana is not physically addictive but extremely phyiscally and mentally theraputic. Cannabis was never illegal until 1937 and it was not made illegal as a health hazard then, It was made illegal to empower the U.S. Government to deport the mexicans who flooded the southwest after the 1910 Mexican Revolution, and has evolved along the same lieing and denying lines (for whatever the wrong reason's.) The Gov't has been brainwashing us, making us believe along its lines concerning anything cannabis. But through scientific and medical research the government's reasons for keeping marijuana illegal and in a schedule 1 catagory has been blown out of the water. Best put, "Marijuana, in its natural form, is one of the most theraputically active substances known. It would be unreasonable, arbitrary and capricious for the DEA to continue to stand between those sufferer's and the substance."---Francis L. Young DEA Chief Administrative Law Judge, 1988. This proves the U.S. Government is lieing and denying the facts concerning marijuana be it medical or personal when their own people reccommend legalization and they buried the report and told Francis to do another one focusing only on the negative aspects of marijuana. Rather than deny his hippocratic oath he quit. I am forced, and reccommended by my doctor, to move to a Medical Marijuana state to control the constant nausea and vomiting from my Diabetic Neutopthic Gastro Paresis. With this disease I surf waves of nausea from mild to severe every hour of everyday, much worse than any chemo related nausea. They are the lucky ones, their nausea goes away when treatment is stopped or they die. Mine goes away when I die and my death with this disease is slow starvation. For your body becomes unable to process and deliver nutrients. Marinol 10 mg helps but 1) Takes an hour to work 2) is harder to tirate ones dose and 3) is way more expensive than the real thing. So since it is so blantantly obvious that the U.S. Government is lieing to its citizens regarding the facts and use of marijuana the question becomes one where everyone who is for MMJ and decriminalizing the possession of small amounts needs to contact their state and federal Rep.'s, Senator's, Governors and the President to change the marijuana laws to fit scientific, medical and socially excepted truths and values. Just imagine the financial windfall from the savings in Law Enforcement, and the products from non THC containing Industrial Hemp. From 1) Oil 2) Food 3) Fiber 4) Clothing and of course 5) medicine, plus the savings realized from releasing all non violent people being imprisoned on marijuana and marijuana related charges. It would be in the multi-multi Billons of dollars, stop the Insanity LEGALIZE CANNABIS NOW!!! PEACE!~:)

I, for one, will not let up until change happens. this country is living a lie otherwise promoted by Uncle Sam.
Oh, and I just want to recommend that people who care should call their state and local representatives and ask them the same question:
WHY IS THE GOVERNMENT LYING TO US ABOUT MEDICAL MARIJUANA?

after making multiple phone calls, I now have a better idea of the kind of brick wall I'm facing... it is thick, dense, and void of fresh air...
this wall will not be easy to break through...
I might have to bring it down upon myself... maybe that's the only way to break through to the other side where the politicians mingle to play with the law in ignorance...
the wall of lies will fall...
